Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your office and what areas do you serve?

My office is at 34 Mayhew Drive, South Orange, NJ 07079. I see clients in person from South Orange, Maplewood, West Orange, Montclair, Millburn, and around Essex County.

What is psychodynamic therapy, and how is it different from CBT?

Psychodynamic therapy looks at the deeper patterns and past experiences that shape how you feel and act now, with the aim of lasting insight and change. CBT stays more focused on changing specific thoughts and behaviors in the present. Both work, and I often draw on each depending on what you're bringing in.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples?

EFT is a well-researched approach to couples therapy that helps partners understand the emotional cycle behind their recurring conflicts and learn to reconnect, rather than just handing them communication tips.

Do you work specifically with men?

Yes. A good part of my practice is working with men on stress, anger, relationships, anxiety, depression, and life transitions, in a direct and nonjudgmental setting.

Are you LGBTQ+ affirming?

Yes. I offer affirming, nonjudgmental therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals and couples, and I've worked with queer clients throughout my career. Your identity is taken as valid from the first session.

What happens in a first session?

The first session is a conversation about what brought you in, some of your history, and what you're hoping for. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to, and by the end you'll have a sense of whether we're a good fit.
